The boys Varsity Cougars defeated Bosqueville last Friday night in Travis.

“We had some guys come off the bench and step up,” said Coach Whitfield. “We kept pressure on them and eventually we were able to pull away and win by 23 (points).”

Key baskets from Cameron Finan and Jordan Landrum allowed the Cougars to take an early lead that they would hold for the entire game. By the end of the first period, Cougars had a commanding lead over the Bulldogs.

Cougars out played Bosqueville offensively for the first half of the game. RL aggressively looked to create turnovers in every defensive situation. Each player substituted into the game for RL brought their own energy to the court and boosted the team overall. Cougars led the Bulldogs with a commanding 14 point lead at half.

Even though RL came out slow for the second half, their lead was never fully diminished as they started to pick up their own pace. Baskets from Finan, Breon Lewis, Jamarquis Johnson and Landrum helped build the lead for the Cougars. Bulldog defenders had trouble shutting down three point shots from Finan and Landrum throughout the second half.

As the game came to a close, it was obvious that RL had control of the game all night. Moves on offense and defense allowed the Cougars to rack up points against the Bulldogs. RL ended the night with a commanding 60-37 win.

The Cougars are now 4-0 in district play and will face Moody, Tuesday night in Travis. Gametime set for 7:00.
