How would you describe your high school experience? A very long but short eventful four years, even though it may feel long at times passes faster than you feel. From being worried about trying to make myself know to everyone isn’t something you should prioritize. Make yourself the main priority, take time to understand what you’re learning and understand everything around you. Some day you’ll need to use things you thought you would never use.
What is your favorite high school memory? My sophomore year in April during baseball season, we had went against Granger and base were loaded, I’m up to bat and we only have one out. I’m put into a 3-2 count and we need one more run to win the game. The pitcher throws the ball outside and walks me, with that walk, the last run we need advances and we win helping us make the playoffs after numerous years of being in a playoff drought.
What is one thing that you would have done differently while in high school? To try even harder in my classes that mattered the most, so that I wouldn’t have to play catch up later in my high school career.
Which teacher made the biggest impact on your life? Coach Quinney helped me see the bigger picture my freshman year when I first started playing baseball, seeing the potential in me and giving me the chance to prove myself really helped me see that you can do anything if you are given the chance. Showing me that I had potential to many things for our program and be a part in the success that was to come. He gave me the confidence that I had beneath all the fear and timidness and allowed me to flourish as I was supposed to.
What are your plans for after high school? I plan on furthering my career in mathematics and further my collegiate baseball career too.
What advice would you give to incoming freshman? To cherish the time you have with friends now, take time to spend time with them and cherish the moments you have now. Those times will fly by faster than you know. Four years seems like a long time, but that isn’t anything when high school comes around. So take a breather and cherish those around and keep your head an your shoulders. Keep your cool and think rationally, that way when you leave here you will be ready to take on the world with a good head on your shoulders.
