The Cougar JV football team lost in their first game of the season last Thursday night against the Leon Cougars.
Leon started it off with scoring in the early minutes of the game, beating a slow Cougar defense. Once the first touchdown occurred though, The Cougars took back control and were able to contain Leon to just two touchdowns for the quarter.
The second quarter contained much the same. Leon was able to break free and score two more times. The Cougars were held to no passing yards and a small amount of running yards by Leon’s larger defense.
The third quarter was challenging for the Cougars again as Leon made some tough blocks to the Cougar offense and held them to a few yards. Leon scored once more to run the total up to 34 points by the end of the third quarter.
By the fourth quarter, Leon had effectively controlled the game. The Cougars were able to gain only a few yards per play throughout the game. The Cougars ended the game, still fighting for a score.
The JV team will be back in action early this week, playing Wortham on Wednesday at Cougar field starting at 6:00pm.
